Painted Ponies

Dear friend,

You have seen us grow up in this town and music industry. Moving here at just 16 and 19, we had lots of learning and growing to do. Like many songwriters, we were in awe of what this town had to offer and were terrified yet excited to be thrown into the craziness of the songwriting community. In 2015, we wrote with Paul Sikes and it was an instant connection. It was the first songwriting session we had that felt like home. The songs we created held something special and they just kept coming. Paul understood our old country & bluegrass roots, and he didn’t try to suppress it—he helped it shine in what we wrote.

Years went by with these songs in the back of our minds, waiting for the day our record label would let us record them. Nine years passed. This past March we met up with Paul to celebrate my birthday, and our conversation naturally went to the many incredible songs we had written over the years and questions as to why they were never cut! Unprompted and unplanned, Paul offered to produce a record full of them so the world could hear them. This gave us the opportunity to leave our label and go completely independent. Our rules, our music, our freedom to create what our hearts have always desired. Damn. Good. Country. Music. Something we could be truly proud of. Ivy and I said “if we are going to die on a hill, it’s going to be this one.”

It would be easy to look back with questions, what ifs or should haves, but Ivy and I know with confidence that every high, low, heartbreak, and breathtaking moment has shaped us into who we are and led us back to the root of the music we want to make. We hope you hear this newfound freedom and clarity in these songs. We hope a heartstring is tugged. We are so excited to be unapologetically us, and MAN, does it feel good to be able to break the rules a little bit!

So if you are reading this, please know that you have been specifically considered and invited to preview our debut full length album entitled Painted Ponies, which will be available to all in the spring of 2024.
